Mud tanks cleaning has been a tedious and labor intensive work. Whenever a drilling rig changes to a new kind of mud, or there is too much deposition of expensive barite on the bottom of mud tank, cleaning work has to be performed. Workers with heavy equipment need to come into the refined space of a mud tank to clean mud residuals with high pressure chemical solution spray, exposing themselves to the dangerous environment.

GN Solids Control’s automatic tank cleaning system can bring this high risky high cost work to an end.

Using its mature sub systems, GN Solids Control’s automatic tank cleaning system can automatically finish mud tank cleaning work.

Chemical solution is prepared in the dosing tank with dosing pump. An automatic mixer will add chemical solution automatically to the buffer tank.

Buffer tank provides chemical solutions to booster pump, which pressurizes the solution and send it to automatic tank cleaner.

Automatic tank cleaner scans the inside of mud tank at preset scanning patter, hitting each and every spot of mud tank inner shell to kick out mud contaminant. It takes about 15 minutes to finish a complete scanning cycle.

A powerful suction pump will collect dirty solution, including deposited barite, from the bottom of mud tank, and transfer it to clarifier.

Specially designed clarifier set the solids in the liquid very quickly. While solids accumulated at the special shaped bottom of clarifier being pumped out by a membrane pump, clear solution on top of the clarifier will overflow to the buffer tank, being ready for the next cleaning cycle.

The mud guns that place in the mud system’s function is to move drilling mud from tank space to another.  GN Solids America LLC’s mud gun can be either fixed or rotate setup for drilling operators to optimize the performance for the mud gun.

The mud gun can be use in high pressure and low pressure spray action by using different feeding pump.  The high pressure kind of mud gun is smaller design whole low pressure kind  is larger compare with high pressure kind .  The mud gun equip with movable nozzles and mounted on the mud tank with joint and connected with the pump.  It separate the drilling mud in jet form and mixing the drilling fluid in the pool of mud to keep the drilling mud consist mixed.

1) Mud from the active system is pumped into either a separate mud tank or directly into an injection manifold. This mud is tested by the Solids Control engineer immediately prior to processing. Through a series of standard tests, the operator determines the approximate amount and type of chemicals to give an optimum flocculation/ stabilization of the mud.

2)The injection manifold has a series of injection ports and internal static mixers. The calculated amounts of chemicals are metered into the ports with chemical injection pumps. These pumps have variable controls to continuously adjust the amount of chemical injected.
3)The mud which added coagulant and flocculant then goes to a high-speed, high G-force Decanter centrifuge. The Decanter centrifuge separates the flocculated solids from the fluid.

4)The quality control tank allows the unit operator to monitor the effluent from the centrifuge returned to the active mud or storage system. The operator can then make further adjustments to the chemicals and equipment to ensure optimum dewatering. A bypass allows the operator to recirculate the centrifuge effluent if necessary.

5)The neutralizing tank may be used to store dewatered fluid and to make final treatments to the processed fluid, such as pH adjustments, before the fluid is recycled as makeup or dilution water. This tank is partitioned and can be used for prehydrating bentonite, for mixing chemicals, or for storing excess mud.
