Dewatering technology is greatly use for chemical separation of the solids phase form the liquid. By using some chemicals, the fine particles of solids flocculate into larger ones and to be separated out from the liquid phase. Take the oil and gas drilling mud industry as example, there are 2 main methods to be used, the dewatering centrifuge and the filter press. Seen from their outlook and working principle, they are quite different, but which to choose and why to choose is not only based on the first look, we need a detailed calculation.

  1. Purchasing cost. The cost for buying each of them is no much different, and also comparing with future consumption, this cost seems less important.
  2. The chemicals consumed: because of the high speed and high G force of the decanter centrifuge, no much chemical is needed. But in case of filter press, more chemicals in need for fulfil the work.
  3. Water usage amount: the decanter centrifuge need to be flushed only after continuous operating and the water consumption for each time is 3-4 cbm per day, but the filter press need to be flushed all over after usage, need around 150 cbm per day. In some water scarce place, this factor has to be taken into consideration.
  4. Human force needed: it is not a heavy work to operate or observe the operation of the decanter centrifuge, so one person for one centrifuge is enough. In case when several centrifuges are at same place, even one operator can work for them all. But in case of filter press, one filter press need at least 2 persons to run it.
  5. Spare parts: the spare parts for decanter centrifuge is less than the filter press.

The GNZCQ270 Vacuum Degasser is a rugged vacuum unit that is designed to safely and effciently remove 98% of entrained air and gases such as H2Sand methane from drilling mud.Unlike the traditional vacuum degasser,GNZCQ vacuum degasser is a self-contained unit.The gas-cut mud is drawn into the degasser by a vacuum created by a regenerative vacuum without needing centrifugal pump.

Working Principle of GNZCQ270 Vacuum Degasser

ZCQ series Degasser belongs to the vacuum degasser, namely use the suction effect of the vacuum pump to create negative pressure region in the vacuum tank, and the mud enter the hollow shaft of the rotor through the suction tube under the action of the atmospheric pressure. And then the mud spray to the tank wall through surrounded windows of the hollow shaft. As collision and the function of separate wheel, the mud separated into thin layers, bubble immersed in the slurry breakup and gas escape. Gas is discharged to safe zone from gas separator through the suction of vacuum pump and separation of gas-water separator. the mud is discharged outside of the tank by impeller. As the main motor start first, the impeller associated with the motor is in a high-speed rotation state, so mud gets into the tank only from the suction pipe not be sucked from the liquid discharge tube.

Breif info for vacuum degasser

Vacuum degasser is a special-purpose device for the treatment of gas-cut drilling fluid . It is a new type one we have designed and developed by combining different sorts of degassers from home and abroad . The vacuum degasser is  applied to match to various mud purification system . It is very important for returning mud gravity , stabilizing mud viscosity and reducing drilling cost . Also , at the same time it can be used as a heavy-power agitator during the operation of gas free mud.

Operation Principle of vacuum degasser

This degasser belongs to a kind of vacuum . One which uses the suction of the vacuum pump to establish and under balanced pressure area in the vacuum cylinder and causes the drilling fluid into the hollow shaft of the rotator through suction pipe under the atmosphere pressure , and then lets the fluid spray to the walls of the cylinder from the windows on the hollow shaft , now the gas bubble cut in the mud may break and run off in the funtcion of vacuum pump suction to a safe area due to the fluid collision and bubble separator .

However , in Vacuum degasser the mud will enter the drainage cavity forced by its self-weight and pass the ratator and discharge off the cylinder . In addition , drilling mud can enter the pump cylinder only through the suction pipe , and can’t be sucked in through the discharge pipe because the vacuum pump and the master motor are started simultaneously and the rotator connected to the motor will rellolve  at  a high relolution speed too.
